TRAINING & CAREERS

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN PRIVATE PRACTICE

START DATE NEGOTIABLE

DIRECTOR OF TRAINING & PRIMARY SUPERVISOR:
Kaitlyn Dechant, Psy.D.

Description of Position

Raleigh Psychological Services (RPS) offers a 12-month Post-doctoral fellowship for therapists with a Ph.D. or Psy.D. Key features of this position include, but are not limited to, learning how to build and maintain a psychotherapy practice, growing psychotherapeutic conceptualization and intervention skills, and developing one’s own unique professional identity in preparation for licensure.

The Post-doctoral fellowship is designed to allow fellows to build their private practice without the daunting tasks of overhead costs and referral sources. RPS charges a fee for service as a percentage of the collections, the remaining balance is passed to the fellow on a monthly basis as a 1099 contractor. The pay is based on a 60/40 revenue split, with 60% being distributed to the contractor.

RPS accepts insurance, and fellows will be expected to accept insurance through their supervisor. The fellow will have access to a furnished office, play therapy room, and patient waiting room for patient care for the duration of their fellowship. Fellows at RPS can anticipate development of a full case-load by the end of their training year and feel prepared and supported for a smooth transition into independent practice.

Post-doctoral fellows will receive a minimum of one-hour of supervision per week. The supervisor will work closely with the fellow to develop individual professional goals, work-life balance, and provide continued support in their work to achieve licensure.
